18 Oct 2011--You never really know when you wake up in the morning what opportunities may present on a given day. I found myself on a typical Thursday having lunch with the Special Assistant to the Mayor of Chattanooga who invited us to play for an event he was organizing the following Saturday. The event, as it turns out, was Go!Fest, an initiative to make Chattanooga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability, and a celebration of living life without limitations. Go!Fest brings awareness to people with disabilities and this year saw more than

8,000 visitors. We set up in a grassy area in the center of the zoo, near the goat enclosure (my bodhrán made them nervous) and next to a serval (Leptailurus serval), who went into hiding, and played for the passing crowd. It was a beautiful day all around.

16 Jun 2011--
Things are moving right along and half a year has slipped by. Where does the time go? We have some great gigs coming up. In July, we'll be playing at the Folk Stomp benefit for the Folk School of Chattanooga. This is a three-day workshop, festival and gathering. Come out and support us and while you're there: sing, dance, play, laugh, STOMP!

1 May 2011--
Our debut album "The Green Mountain" is now available for online purchase in digital or physical format at CD Baby and Amazon. Check it out!

23 Mar 2011--
The dust has settled from St. Paddy's Day and the release of our first album, The Green Mountain. It has been an exciting couple of weeks for many reasons, not the least of which being that we have increased our numbers! Casey Phillips has joined the band on tenor banjo and fiddle and we are very happy to have him with us. Welcome, Casey!

11 Mar 2011--
If I haven't updated the latest news about us recently it is because Mark and I have been hard at work on our debut CD, and now I am proud to announce that we are so near completion we can taste it! We plan to release "The Green Mountain" with a blowout party at the Folk School of Chattanooga on March 11, just in time for our St. Paddy's Day season. Woo-hoo!

14 May 2010--Pay the Reckoning collaborates with Irish fiddler Deirdre Ní Chonghaile for a special Garden Concert benefiting the Folk School of Chattanooga. Deirdre is from Cill Mhuirbhigh, Árainn, the largest of the Aran Islands, which lie off the west coast of Ireland. We are giddy with excitement and anticipation for this wonderful opportunity!

14 Mar 2010--Pay the Reckoning plays for Rock City's third annual Shamrock City St. Paddy's Day Celebration. We'll be in the pavilion at 1:00 PM for a one-hour set and then play elsewhere in the park, weather permitting. Come out and join us to celebrate St. Paddy's Day with traditional Irish music.

31 Dec 2009--Pay the Reckoning
provides some festive traditional Irish and Celtic music for a private New Year's Eve Party. We can't think of a better way to bring in the new year than with a mess o' tunes, some munchies, and a few pints o' ale. Please punt responsibly. Sláinte Mhaith, and Happy New Year!

24 Dec 2009--Pay the Reckoning joins our Irish Music friends with the Chattanooga Irish Session on Christmas Eve at the Tremont Tavern. We usually play with the Chattanooga Irish Session every Sunday night at The Tree, but special occasions call for special sessions. Hopefully this will become an annual tradition.

17 Dec 2009--Pay the Reckoning
performs with the doctors of Erlanger Hospital for a very special Holiday Concert. We are very glad to be a part of this charitable concert, organized and performed each year by doctors, staff, and friends, bringing the joy of the Holiday Season to patients at Erlanger Hospital.

12&13 Dec 2009--A Celtic Christmas
Pay the Reckoning is performing with the Hixson United Methodist Church choir and hand bells for an evening of Celtic Christmas music. Traditional instrumental tunes, songs of Christmastime, and Irish dancers; we have been working very hard to make this an unforgettable evening of quality traditional music of the season. Concerts are Saturday and Sunday, Dec 12 & 13, beginning at 5:00 PM. Admission is free.

10 Oct 2009--Pay the Reckoning
performs for the inaugural Red Bank Market in Red Bank, TN. Presented by the Red Bank Neighborhood Pride Association and located at the Red Bank City Park, the Red Bank Market offers arts, crafts, fresh produce, entertainment and food. We had a great time performing for this wonderful community event, and what an enthusiastic audience! We love it when people (especially kids) feel compelled to dance to our music. I must confess, it's also great to be introduced without the least hesitation over the pronunciation of our name.

1 Aug 2009
--The artists formerly known as Ealaionta are now operating under the moniker Pay the Reckoning! Let's face it, you won't get much word-of-mouth advertising if the public can't pronounce or spell your name. Using an Irish word meaning artistic for the name of a traditional Irish band seemed like a good idea at the time, but with almost unilateral confusion and bewilderment at the spelling and pronunciation of Ealaionta, we decided it was time to reinvent ourselves as Pay the Reckoning.

Following a tradition among Celtic ensembles, we have taken the name of a standard Irish jig, also known as Fishing for Eels (certainly a less-than-ideal band name). We hope this will allow those who appreciate and admire our music to tell their friends about us without hesitation over the spelling or pronunciation.

4 Jul 2009--Ealaionta performed for Soddy-Daisy Fourth of July Festival and 40th Year Celebration. In addition to celebrating the independance of our country, the town of Soddy-Daisy celebrated its 40th year of being Soddy-Daisy. You see, there used to be Soddy and there was also Daisy and, well . . . you get the picture. It was a beautiful day with what seemed like thousands in attendance. We were delighted and honored to be asked to perform for this most excellent event.
